Brotherly Love

This past week Cooper had a difficult time sleeping in his own bed. He actually crawled into bed with me when Rob was out of town and said he had a bad dream. He continued to tell me that he dreamt of bad ogres! Where bad ogres came from I have no idea. I/we tried to tell him that ogres can be good....referencing Shrek of course. But...he didn't take to it very well. So he ended up sleeping in Parker's room for 3 nights and they both slept in sleeping bags on Parker's floor. By the end of the week Parker was complaining that his back was hurting and decided that the best solution was to have Cooper's bed moved into his room so that they can share a room and no one will be scared!!! What a great big brother! Cooper of course was thrilled! So today we rearranged rooms. And as bedtime approached they were so excited to share a room. They said that they had been waiting all day for this....it was like having a sleepover but for a long time (so says Cooper). I am so happy they are such close brothers!! I know this won't last forever but they sure looked so sweet as they fell off to night night right next to each other!! As you will see in the picture....we have a wall dedicated to the Univ. of Montana GRIZ in their bedroom!!!!

Let the Games Begin

This was opening weekend for all of our sporting activities! The weekend began on Saturday with Parker's football game and Cooper's soccer game both at 9:30am. Of course...they would both have to play at the same time. Luckily, I don't think this time issue happens but a few times this season. I started at Parker's football game and it was great! At half-time Rob and I switched and I saw the last half of Cooper's soccer game! Both boys had a blast! Parker scored one touchdown and grabbed lots of flags and Cooper hustled like no other. Keep in mind, Cooper is in a soccer league comprised of K-2nd grade. He was out running some of the big kids! Even missing a goal by near inches! On Sunday Parker had his soccer game. We started in a new soccer league and had a few new things to try out. Mainly, the size of the field. Quite a bit bigger and they play longer quarters. Needless to say, our kids were pretty tired after their 1st game. Parker scored 3 goals and overall I think each child on our team was able to score at least one goal. All in all our weekend was a lot of fun. Rob and I sure enjoy sitting and watching our boys play sports. Something we all love!!

Omaha Royals Game

Last night we went to the Omaha Royals baseball game! Of course we all had a blast! The boys have really taken a liking to baseball games. We went to a few Mustang games back in Montana and ever since then they have been asking to go again! Last night we went with Rob's office and it turned out to be a fun night!

2nd Grade

Today was the 1st day of 2nd Grade! I always have a difficult time with the 1st day of school. Actually, it might be a toss up because I seem to have a hard time with the last day of school as well! The morning started out just as any normal school day morning. Parker usually jumps out of bed before his alarm goes off because he is so excited to go to school. We completed our normal morning routine and then it was time to take pictures. The yearly ritual we do to start off the 1st day of school! I was quite overwhelmed with the thought of 2nd grade. To me, 2nd grade is a turning point between the "just starting school" years to a seasoned school boy. So I made a mental note to myself, "he is growing up....it is ok to let him grow up...hold your tears in"!! After pictures we were off! Parker could hardly wait to get there! Rob decided to go into work late so that he could see Parker off to his 1st day of school. We all waited outside of school along with many other students until the bell rang signaling that we could enter the building. As we waited outside Parker was surrounded by a group of buddies! Happy as a clam! We then proceeded inside to his classroom and upon walking down the hallway I noticed something. Here he is walking to 2nd grade and in his hand is a baggie with his 3 month baby picture in it. His teacher wanted them to bring their baby pictures on the 1st day of school to begin a project she had planned for them. It then brought tears to my eyes....where did the time go. It seems like it was just yesterday that he was a baby and now....if you blink you will miss something spectacular!! After we left Parker and as we were walking back to the car I asked Cooper if he was ok. Seeing as though, he does not start preschool for a few more weeks and he will be left to play by himself at home! His response, "I'm cool mom....I get all the toys to myself now"! That put a smile on my face at exactly the right time!

Air Show at Offutt Air Base

Today was an action packed day! We spent the whole day at the air show. The weather was perfect. Warm but not too warm...cloudy at times...and the sky was filled with the buzz of high flying jet planes. We toured quite a few of large and small planes that were on the ground. The boys especially liked the "big boy that transports vehicles" (innocent words spoken by a 2nd grader). Wow, Cool, Awesome, Wicked....these are all of the snappy words the boys used to describe everything from a plane, parachute, jet, helicopter or military personnel they saw today. Both boys were a bit overwhelmed but it was all topped off with a truely spectacular show put on by the Thunderbirds. Inches and feet.....that is all I can say. It is amazing how close those jets fly and so beautiful at the same time.

Cookie Monsters

We had a blast this morning! The boys helped me make Daddy's favorite cookies... Oatmeal Raisin. Although, we needed to modify the recipe for the "little cookie monsters" because neither boy likes cooked raisins. Oatmeal and Choc. Chips was their choice! As most probably know I love to bake. So whenever possible the boys are always eager to help me out. I cherish these baking moments because I am sure in not to long...baking with Mom will NOT be cool anymore!!
